St. Nicholas School is a different kind of school. We believe that every child deserves an education.
We educate children living in abject poverty in the port of Tema New Town, near Ghana’s capital Accra. Without St. Nicholas these children may never receive any formal schooling.
St. Nicholas is run entirely on voluntary donations and receives no state funding.
The first school building was built with a grant from the Maria Tsakos Foundation and land donated by the Tsakos Group. It had two classrooms and opened in February 2012
In 2015, we began building a new school annexe to accomodate 12 new classrooms.
We continue this build in phases as funds become available. If you would like to find out more about this project, please see our Brick by Brick campaign.
The St. Nicholas Foundation, a UK registered charity (Charity no: 1164193) was set up in November 2015 to support and oversee the school and we are also a registered NGO in Ghana. Please see ‘What we do’ to find out more about our school today.
